Ingredients

  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter


Instructions

  1. Rinse the black eyed peas.
  2. Combine peas, chicken broth, onion, celery, bell pepper, garlic, salt, and pepper in a large pot.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45-60 minutes, or until peas are tender.
  4. Stir in heavy cream and butter.
  5. Cook for another 5 minutes until heated through and creamy.
