Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, heavy cream, and sour cream.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  6. Bring mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove skillet from heat. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  8. Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through.
  10. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute Gruyere cheese for cheddar for a different flavor.
