Description

Make your own delicious and cheesy Homemade Cheez-Its with real cheddar cheese.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup ice water


Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine flour, salt, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Add the cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and pulse to combine.
  4. Slowly add the ice water, pulsing until the dough just comes together.
  5. Divide the dough in half and flatten each half into a rectangle.
  6. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Roll out one dough rectangle very thinly on a lightly floured surface.
  9. Cut into small squares using a pizza cutter or knife.
  10. Place the squares on a baking sheet.
  11. Poke a hole in the center of each cracker with a toothpick.
  12. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  13. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  14. Let cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • You can use different types of cheese.
