Description

A quick and easy one-pot Thai basil chicken, also known as Pad Krapow. This flavorful dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 Thai chilies, thinly sliced (or to taste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and sliced chilies; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
  6. Stir in Thai basil leaves until wilted.
  7. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of chilies to your spice preference.
  • If you can’t find Thai basil, regular basil can be used, though the flavor will be different.
  • For a spicier dish, add more chilies or a dash of sriracha.
