Description

A simple and delicious homemade chili recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Drain off any grease.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Stir in kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or longer for a richer flavor.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other vegetables like corn or carrots.
  • Adjust the amount of chili powder to your taste.
  • Top with cheese, sour cream, or your favorite chili toppings.
