Description
A delicious and easy loaf cake made with sourdough discard and chocolate.
Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine sugar, oil, and vanilla.
- Add the sourdough discard to the wet ingredients and mix.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the hot coffee. The batter will be thin.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- You can substitute strong brewed tea for the coffee.
- Add a glaze or frosting for extra sweetness.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
