Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate chips (optional)
- Butter or oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together sourdough discard, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips, if using.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
- Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
