Description

Fluffy chocolate pancakes made with sourdough discard. A perfect weekend treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips (optional)
  • Butter or oil for cooking


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together sourdough discard, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Gently fold in chocolate chips, if using.
  5. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
