Description

A hearty and flavorful chili recipe. It’s packed with ground beef, beans, and spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic.
  3. Add kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cover.
  6. Cook for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve hot, with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the heat.
  • For a thicker chili, you can mash some of the beans.
  • Top with sour cream, shredded cheese, or your favorite chili toppings.
