A classic Louisiana dish with shrimp in a flavorful tomato-based sauce.

- 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and bell pepper; cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic; cook for 1 minute.
- Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Creole seasoning, thyme, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add shrimp to the sauce. Cook until pink and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve over cooked rice.
Notes
- Adjust the cayenne pepper to your spice preference.
- You can add other vegetables, like celery, to the sauce.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
