Ingredients

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup hot water


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix until combined. Pour into the prepared dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  5. Pour hot water over the brown sugar mixture. Do not stir.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is set and the sauce is bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
